ARTIST STATEMENT
As a jewelry designer, beading has introduced me to the discipline of design. Much thought, effort, and time goes behind such a limited grid pattern, but the challenge is part of the chaotically beautiful, creative process. Weaving nourishes my mental well-being, and I use it as a spiritual prayer and meditation tool. Every creation has a story, and I like to tell that story as a lesson, reminder, or affirmation for us all. I have admired the symbol of the seed and its commitment to personal growth since I was a child. I found inspiration in the idea that the seed could transform itself into a new form with enough nourishment, time, dedication, and hard work. I have now realized that this transformation is a constant cycle for all life forms, including mine. Many of us are constantly transforming and reinventing ourselves to grow to our fullest potential, but this process takes time, similar to my practice of weaving. Along with using seed beads for my jewelry, the seed symbol reminds me that the process of transformation and renewal of the self and the world is always encouraged and supported here at Seed Craft.
